It all started with a dream….. no literally

We’re Laila and Niamh. Two friends that decided we’d contribute absolutely Nothing Of Worth™ to the world and instead make dumb shirts with stupid designs and unhinged phrases.

One day I (Niamh) woke up at 4am from ⋆˙⟡a dream ⟡˙⋆ where I made ski t-shirts that said “I love getting railed” and looked like they had been designed in Microsoft Paint.

Instead of doing what any reasonable person of sound mind would do (go back to sleep), I launched myself out of bed and started making them.

And well, it just kinda snowballed from there (no pun intended).

PRINTED IN TOKYO

We get our shirts printed at our friend’s uncle’s shop in Tokyo. (I knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy)

We wanted to make sure we knew where our shirts were being printed and so, sure, it’s a little more expensive, but we would rather make sure the people printing our stuff get a fair wage, than produce shirts at fast-fashion prices.

WHY SIIN?

Living in Japan, you come across some pretty wild mistranslations.

I was browsing the Armada skis website and plugged a paragraph into translate. What I got was this MASTERPIECE of a mistranslation.

I was like “yo I gotta put that on a t shirt” and ended up creating this design as a joke. Turns out quite a lot of people also wanted it on a t-shirt.

I decided to name the brand after this mistranslation, and so the acronym SIIN came to be.

Besides who doesn’t love to SIIN?
